The 7th annual Huntington Beach Mid-Singles Conference goes from May 18-22, 2012. Join LDS mid-singles from all over the country and a few internationals for a weekend of fun, sun, and a whole lot of spiritual growth and meeting like-minded people.

This year’s theme is “Come and See!” This year we are mixing things up a bit. Our focus will be on creating natural, smaller group interactions – everything from bowling, cooking competitions, and interactive workshops. So ask yourself “What do ye seek?”…register and COME & SEE!

Call the temple 949-644-1820 to reserve a spot before May 4th. If you sign up, please honor your reservation or call at least 24 hours in advance to cancel. Only 20 spots are available for each session. Appropriate temple attire is required, and you must bring your own temple clothing for endowment sessions. This is a smaller temple and does not rent clothing. When you call the temple please let them know you’re part of the HB Midsingles Conference.

Do not forget your registration confirmation email.
IMPORTANT: Registration will only be open until 7:45. Since the entire venue has been rented out we are required to close doors promptly at 8:00. If you miss registration, you can register Saturday morning at the workshops. There will not be anyone there to register you after 7:45.

Enjoy a night of bowling and miniature golf! With 40 lanes of bowling and three miniature golf courses we have room for everyone to participate in the fun! Your registration fees cover all the expenses including food and drinks. Please let us know at registration of any food allergies or special dietary requirements.

11:00 – Until you crash.
You may stay and continue bowling or venture next door to Boomers amusement park. Anything after 11:00 will be an out-of-pocket expense.

Conference Answers

How much is registration?
Registration will be in three phases this year:

1. $95 from March 5 – April 20, 2012
2. $110 from April 21 – May 10, 2012
3. $120 from May 11 – May 17, 2012

What does my registration fee cover?
Your registration fee covers the cost of all activities and meals as outlined in the conference schedule. Activities with additional cost and rentals for beach activities are noted on the schedule and on the registration form.

Can I participate in activities a la carte without attending the entire conference?
Yes, you can – however, the cost per activity will be significantly higher than the value of the overall conference.

Can I register at the door?
This year the online registration form contains questions that will help facilitate smaller group interactions. We strongly request that you register online before the cut-off date. Registration will only be permitted at the door in special circumstances. Online Registration closes on May 17, 2012 to ensure we have sufficient amounts of food and adhere to fire codes. If you register at the door, food will not be guaranteed.

What is the conference age range?
Conference attendees are “mid-singles” who are generally between the ages of 27 and 42.

Who comes to the conference?
Attendees have been known to attend from all over the world. At any given point in time, there will be 700 – 1200 participants. This year we hope to have the largest and most geographically diverse group ever.

Where will the activities be held?
The Friday night activities will be held at Irvine Lanes just south of John Wayne Airport (SNA). All Saturday morning and church on Sunday will be held at the Huntington Beach Stake Center which is located at 8702 Atlanta Avenue in Huntington Beach. Saturday night will be held at The Great Park in Irvine. Please refer to the schedule link on our website for maps and additional details.

Where do I park?
Try to carpool as much as possible. Parking will be available at the various locations throughout the conference:

Friday night – parking lot of Irvine Lanes and overflow parking across the street at a local synagogue.
Saturday morning and Sunday – church parking lot and on the street surrounding it.
Saturday Afternoon Beach Activities – Park anywhere between Main St. and Beach Blvd along the street you’ll find metered parking or for $15.00 you can park in the State Parks parking lot at the intersection of Beach blvd and PCH.

Who puts on the conference?
The Huntington Beach Mid-Singles Conference is organized and staffed almost exclusively by members of the Huntington Beach First Ward with help from members of the stake.

What airport should I fly in to?
In order of ‘nearness’ to the conference, the following airports are good choices:

SNA – John Wayne airport in Santa Ana (10 miles)
LGB – Long Beach airport (15 miles) (direct flights on Delta and Jet Blue)
LAX – Los Angeles airport (40 miles)

Where should I stay?
There are many hotels at various price ranges in and around Huntington Beach. Some of the more modestly priced options are:

Can I get free housing with local mid-singles?
If you have a friend who’s willing to let you sleep on the couch, then yes. There is no program to host attendees. However you can sometimes find groups on LDSLinkup.com or Facebook who are looking for other out-of-towners to share a hotel room or vacation homes for the weekend.

What is the weather in Huntington Beach like?
Well, it’s best to check the forecast a few days before you come. But generally in May, the days are sunny and in the high 70s. Nights can be chilly, so bring something warm. Also, the beach can be breezy, so plan appropriately.

What should I wear?
For Friday and Saturday activities, please dress in church-standard, casual attire. What does that mean exactly? Among other things, yes to sleeves, yes to jeans, no to bikinis or miniskirts. Wear modest swimwear and beach attire for beach activities. In all things, remember: Modest is Hottest! Sacrament meeting, fireside and temple sessions require Sunday attire.

A little more about SHe
SHe provides meaningful opportunities for singles to serve together around the world in sustainable humanitarian development projects in health, education and economic development initiatives.  Over 220 SHe volunteers (primarily, but not exclusively, LDS singles in their 20s and 30s from the United States and around the world) have served in remote areas of Guatemala, Bolivia and Nepal.  SHe will soon open registration for expeditions to Guatemala (July 16-24) and Kenya (September 3-11).
