Kenneth W. Matheson (Sunday Fireside)

We are pleased to present Dr. Kenneth W. Matheson as our Sunday fireside speaker.

“Now is the Time: Preparing for a Successful Relationship.” Dr. Matheson will discuss how aligning our actions with our beliefs, learning to deal with different personality types, and accepting responsibility for our current circumstances will help us move forward in life, consistent with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Kenneth W. Matheson

Dr. Kenneth W. Matheson was a Professor of the School of Social Work at Brigham Young University for 19 years, from which he retired in September 2014. Prior to that, he worked with LDS Family Services for 19 years and earned master and doctorate degrees in Social Work from the University of Utah. He is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical Social Worker. Additionally, he served on the Board of Education for the Provo, Utah School District for 12 years. Dr. Matheson has extensive experience presenting that includes BYU Education Week, Know Your Religion, the BYU Speakers Bureau, and he has conducted relationship seminars and Priesthood leadership trainings nationally and internationally. He has written many articles and book chapters discussing family and relationships, articles in the LDS Ensign, and written the book, Keeping Love Alive: Answers to 100 Marriage Questions. Highlights of Church service include serving as Bishop, in a stake presidency; and, with his wife, Marlene, serving at the Missionary Training Center and as temple ordinance workers in Provo, Utah, and most recently as full-time missionaries, as the LDS Family Services Specialists in the Europe Area. They are the parents of six children and grandparents of 11.
